After presentations, material collection, budget-making and fundraising, PPOS students have broken ground on the garden projects they have worked so hard for. The group raised $1,000 for their garden spaces, after making extensive plans and organizing a “Garden Fairy Play” and presentation to school community members.
During the past two weeks, students have worked with Mrs. Bruno on building garden boxes, shoveling dirt and planting. Onions and potatoes line rows at her property, where students will continue to work and learn throughout the summer. Plum trees, raspberry bushes, vegetables and herbs fill boxes and land just south of the school building. With muddy hands, students agree: the space is theirs, and is beautiful.
