Job Overview

Join us in beautiful Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where as a 1st or 5th grade teacher you engage students in learning outside the classroom walls. Working through a year-round schedule with a two-month summer break and week-long breaks every 5-6 weeks; teachers become curriculum creators at this PBL school. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary School Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, Restorative Practices learning environment, engage students in Project-based Learning educational experiences, and support their academic and personal growth. This role requires a commitment to nurturing young minds and promoting a love for learning.

Duties

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to diverse learning styles.
• Utilize effective classroom management techniques to create a safe and productive learning environment.
• Assess student progress through various methods, including tests, assignments, and observations, providing feedback to guide improvement.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices in teaching methodologies.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a strong school community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; teaching certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of Restorative Practice principles, effective PBL teaching practices and understanding of the science of reading.
• Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with students of varying backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues while also demonstrating strong independent work ethic.
• A passion for education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students through participation and commitment to student field work and trips.
